Can I sync recent texts only on my MacBook Pro, while having all texts synced on other devices?

I like to keep Messages going back to Forever, however this is taking up like 60GB of space on my Macbook Pro which only has about 250GB to work with. I want to be able to send and receive and sync recent texts through my computer, but do not want to be using almost a third of my hard drive space to do this.

Is it possible to sync recent texts only on my Mac, while having all texts synced on other devices? If not, what solution or alternative is available to me for this problem?
