iCloud Drive on MacOS has been syncing for 3 days

I have around 300GB worth of items (maybe more, I am not sure) in my iCloud, it was not syncing properly and some of the files has the dotted cloud icon. I look for answer on how to fix it and one that I came across was to disable the icloud on the mac and then enable it again. I did exactly that. and now it's stuck on

for about 3 days now. I have no way to checking whether it's truly stuck or it's progressing. How should I go about it? I don't know where the files are now in my mac except some of the items that's in the Library -> Mobile Documents etc. Is there a way to check whether it's syncing slowly? This is giving me major panic moment.

thanks for the reply...

I eventually reached out to Apple Support Team. The first thing they have advised was to turn off my computer and restart again. I asked her if the unsynced data would be lost, because I can clearly see the difference in files in the iCloud online and my local versions. She told me "Don't worry". And I took her words for it. (Silly me right?) So we proceeded to turn off my Mac and restarted it again. And voila! the files are gone!!!!!!!! She advised me to check the trash bin, I can't see anything that's supposed to be synced (that were there previously in my disk). Then we enabled the Icloud sync again. and guess what! it's syncing those files from the online version. Which some of the files were not updated since 2 months back. I don't know how much data I actually lost, but it's some work that I have done, and I have put a lot of effort in them.

I know I am not supposed to rely on just iCloud for the files integrity/backup. But really it's worked so far and I have become complacent and not backing up. I am moving the intact files out of iCloud now.
