What USB-A adapters are compatible with a 2010 MacBook Pro?

I have a 2010 MacBook Pro the USB ports have stopped working. I have ethernet, Firewire 800 and Thunderbolt-2 ports that work. Is there an adaptor that allows connection of USB-a devices?

There's this: Other World Computing – OWC Thunderbolt 2 Dock Solution

It is a bundle of an Apple Thunderbolt 3-to-2 adapter, and a powered Thunderbolt 3 dock. Among other things, the dock has five USB-A ports.

You might be able to use an Apple Thunderbolt 3-to-2 adapter to attach other docks. If so, they would need to be Thunderbolt docks, since the adapter doesn't know how to "speak" anything other than Thunderbolt. They would also need to have their own power supply, since the adapter does not transmit power from one side to the other.
