Thunderbolt 4 large (12 TB) external drives for Lightroom & Photoshop

New to Mac, Mac Mini on order. Looking for a solution for 12 terrabyte external drive for Adobe Lightroom use that is not thousands of $$. Any recommendations from other Lightroom users? One option seems to be the Lacie Big Dock (thunderbolt 3). Or perhaps a smaller Thunderbolt 4 SSD which has the speed to work with Lightroom, and store unused files on a slower drive.

There are large SSDs but at least a few years ago they used QLC which is not as durable and error-resistant as TLC, MLC or SLC with SLC being best and priciest. QLC uses a small SLC as a cache and after it is filled the speed might drop even to HDD levels in sustained transfers.

My 1-2 TB Samsung 850/860 EVO SATA TLC SSDs have been good also as boot drives. I use them as bare system/data drives with OWC dual dock or StarTech USB-C/A adapters with about 530 MB/s sustained R/W speed which is good enough for me. I have eyed faster interfaces than SATA but the enclosures and adapters might not yet be so robust as the old SATA.

Whatever you get, make good backups because losing 12 TB precious data is a lot.
