Numbers not displaying date properly

Hi, I've just got a new iMac. My old one was from about 2014 and I was using OpenOffice to do my spreadsheets. When I open my spreadsheets on my new iMac on Numbers the dates are displayed as "DD Nov YY". When I click the cell I can see the date as it was originally entered, but for some reason in the cell on the spreadsheet they are all listed like that.

Is there someone who can help me reformat this so it will display the date without me having to click on each cell to see the date??

Thanks!

Solved it!! Obvious solution...I just wasn't used to navigating around Numbers. I selected the whole column where my dates should be, went to the formatting sidebar, clicked Cell, then date format, date and time, and changed the format that way. Couldn't find a way to delete this post so I'm writing what I did here in case anyone else like me is temporarily baffled!
