Since iOS 18.1.1 update apple carplay not reading messages

I updated to 18.1.1 last night and now my CarPlay no longer shows my calendar. When I go into CarPlay app on my iPhone 11 it does not allow me to add apps. I just moved to a new location and this is a huge inconvenience for me as the addresses to all the new locations I need to find I now have to add manually in the car. I am so tired of Apple f**king around with updates.

My CarPlay no longer skips music tracks from the steering wheel buttons or from my phone buttons. The only way to skip tracks is now from the console control panel in the car. Hopefully we get an update quickly.

My wife and I have 15 Pro Maxes. Mine has updated to 18.1.1, but hers has not yet updated. My CarPlay has stopped working, giving an unable to connect error message, whilst hers works as per normal. None of the normal workarounds have fixed the issue. Hopefully a new update will be available soon.

I uploaded iOS 18.1.1 a few days ago. I can no longer connect my iPhone 14 Pro to my 2024 Mazda CX-5. I had previously connected with my car quickly. I reset my network settings on my phone because I could not receive telephone calls or text messages; that fixed that problem. But now I cannot connect to my car.

My issue is slightly different. Since upgrading to 18.1.1 on my iPhone Pro Max 12 my CarPlay is messed up. Lots of weird things happening, including when Pandora plays I can’t see what song is playing. Also, the screen comes up differently. When I turn the car on it, would you come up to what it was last doing now it brings up a screen with all the different apps. I’m also having issues with the phone section. You would think Apple would test this stuff before they dump it on us?

My wife and I have iPhone 12 devices. We updated them to iOS to 18.1.1, and now her iPhone cannot connect with Apple Carplay on our RAV4 2021. My iPhone uses Carplay with no problem on the same car and the same USB cable.

Ever since I updated to 18.1.1 my messages will not show up in CarPlay as an option even though when I got to the message settings I have selected show in CarPlay and allow notifications is on. Didn’t mess up until this new update. CarPlay will not allow me to add any apps just rearrange them.

I upgraded to IOS 18.1.1 my Iphone 15 Pro and I started to have problems with CarPlay (wired on Peugeot 208), especially with SIRI: for example, when I start a phone call through Siri, the SIRI animation after a few attempts to call hangs up and soon after CarPlay disconnects and the call eventually starts either on bluetooth or directly on the iPhone! Really annoying. Before the update everything was working perfectly.

iPhone 14 Pro Max on 18.1.1 and no car play. Hardwired in and nothing, not even charging. It’s like the port is not being allowed to connect to the phone. I checked to see if my VPN was on as some suggested and it is not. Restarted the phone and the car and it made no change. Hope this can be fixed soon.

Since updating to IOS 18.1.1 My car play keeps shutting off and restarting my whole counsel whenever I try to connect it! I just want to listen to my music again :( I hope Apple gets on this and fixes the issue!!! We shouldn’t have to keep doing this over and over….

I am having this same issue. I updated to iOS 18.1.1 over the holiday and hopped in my car today. I drive a 2020 Audi Q5 and have an iPhone 14 pro. My vehicle is the model that was the last to design the multi-media user interface (MMI) as "touch-free" meaning there is a spinning wheel that is used to navigate the MMI screens, including CarPlay. When I connected to my car this morning, the CarPlay application worked as expected and I can navigate across the CarPlay app with the wheel. As soon as I tried to open a secondary app, like messages, phone, maps, Spodify, etc, the wheel selector stops working in the sense that I can spin the wheel, but not open anything, where as I previously could. I can still open apps on my phone while in the car and start a playlist or queue up directions. The data/information is still flowing through and interacting, but I've lost the ability to control car play using my car. This seems far more unsafe than turning a knob like a volume or air control. If my phone and car know I am driving, why lock one and not the other? And why lock the safer of the two approaches to control and leave the far more dangerous/distracting one unlocked? Make it make sense.

My iPhone 15 Pro updated to iOS 18.1.1 last night. Today when it connects to CarPlay in my '17 VW GTI (wired through USB is the only option), the infotainment screen goes blank and after a minute or two the infotainment displays a message indicating that it is trying to connect to a USB device.

After performing the update 18.1.1 of my Iphone SE, the connection with Apple Carplay is no longer possible. Contacted Apple but without success. Got advice to turn the Iphone on and off and that was it in terms of assistance. Very disappointing 😡😡

Thanks for the info. This is exactly what is happening. When I’m in audio I only hear a text tone from my phone since doing the update but when I’m in CarPlay I’ll get a message show up on my screen. I was like you trying to reset setting, uninstall and reinstall to no avail.
