New track endlessly cycles after recording

I just got Logic 11. Recording a new version of an earlier track. First I copied the track, command D, this problem started. Then tried resolving with a new audio track. Just recording a few measures to begin with, using auto punch. Once the track ends it's divided into endless cycles of what I just recorded.


Did the same track a couple days ago and did not see this behavior. I have no idea what's happened between now and then.


Right clicked on the auto punch icon, it has marquee selection engages auto punch selection. I don't have marquee selected. Not even sure this is the problem, but maybe? Never right clicked on the auto punch before
