Ongoing Issues with Apple TV – Is It Still Worth It?

Hello,

I’ve been an Apple TV user for a long time, but I’m seriously reconsidering its value after the recent update. Here are some of the issues I’m experiencing:

  1. Watch Next not working: I now have to manually right-click and mark shows as watched.
  2. Up Next not syncing with platforms: Certain platforms, like Disney+, aren’t showing up in the Up Next queue. If I need to go into each platform to manage my content, it defeats the purpose of having Apple TV.

If I’m forced to handle everything manually or access platforms individually, what’s the advantage of Apple TV? Many of the shows and movies I watch can be purchased or accessed without needing Apple TV at all.

What I’ve tried so far:

  • Reset Apple TV three times (one issue resolved, but the rest remain).
  • Followed all suggestions I’ve found online, but the problems persist.

These issues are frustrating and make me question why there are so many problems now. I’d appreciate guidance on what to do next.

Thank you.

Hey

I had the exact same problem as you.

I have, so to speak, always used ethernet cable for my Apple TV. But recent I have used Wifi and then the problem you describe occurred. I didn't connect that it was internet setup conntection variant that was fault so I have been tried to diagnosis this problem for several months for my self.

I connected the ethernet cable again and restarted my Apple TV then problem got solved. When I pull the ethernet connection the problem occurs again.

But I have used Apple TV sometimes without ethernet cable for several years ago but then this problem was not there.

(I know that there is Apple TVs that do not have ethernet connection and or do not have the option to do connect.)

But for those who have the option a recommend to test it :)

Best regards Morten
