eGPU acceleration for image processing?

I am researching the possibility of augmenting my Photoshop and Lightroom speed with an eGPU. I am using a 15 in MacBook Pro 2018 with a Vega 16 4GB internal GPU and the intel GPU. I have never used an eGPU. Reading this <https://support.apple.com/en-us/102363> I find no mention of how Sonoma handles the eGPU; I also assume my needs are not as high as a 3D game developer so perhaps something at the lower end?

Thanks for any info you can share, especially if you re into the stills side!

eGPU is dead. Don't buy one. It says right at the top of that support article "To use an eGPU, a Mac with an Intel processor is required."

But it does say, "To use an eGPU, a Mac with an Intel processor is required." Apple doesn't use Intel processors anymore. Apple already considers your MacBook Pro to be "vintage". Don't spend a lot of money on it.
