Unable to find Passwords list after latest iPadOS update

After doing the latest iPad available OS update, (maybe 18.1.1), I now can’t find my passwords list in settings. Help!!

My title line encapsulates my irritating, disturbing issue.

How do I get my password back after the 18.1.1 update. They are not in the app as noted in the instructions

Do you see any Passwords at all in the Passwords App - or do you simply see a white screen? Something else?

If you only see a white screen, close the Passwords App using the App Switcher. To expose the App Switcher page, swipe upwards from the bottom edge to the centre of the screen - and pause briefly before lifting your finger. You should now see a thumbnail image of each open App; simply swipe the corresponding thumbnail off the top of the screen.

After force-closing the Passwords App, perform a forced-restart of your iPad:

Force restart iPad (models with Face ID or with Touch ID in the top button)

If your iPad doesn’t have the Home button, do the following:

  1. Press and quickly release the volume button nearest to the top button.
  2. Press and quickly release the volume button farthest from the top button.
  3. Press and hold the top button.
  4. When the Apple logo appears, release the top button.

Force restart iPad (models with the Home button)

Press and hold the top button and the Home button at the same time. When the Apple logo appears, release both buttons.

Having updated to iOS/iPadOS 18.x, you will not find your saved Passwords in iPhone or iPad device settings. All saved passwords have been migrated to the new Passwords App - this having been installed automatically.

More information about the new Passwords App can be found here:

Use the Passwords app to create, manage, and share passwords and passkeys across Apple devices - Apple Support

If you have deleted the Passwords App from your iPad, the App can be reinstalled from the Apple App Store:

Why do Apple consumers not get a choice to resort back after an upgrade? Some changes make it harder for the consumer rather than easier. In a world where change is constant, it will be nice to have some stability in areas that are working perfectly fine—I. E ‘Passwords’ in settings. This was a one-step process, now complicated unnecessarily.
