AirDrop not working after Sequoia update

Since updating to Sequoia, AirDrop does not work anymore on my MacBook Pro M3. Used to flawlessly. I can send from the Macbook to my Phone, but not from the Phone to the Macbook. Also when I try to add AirDrop to the finder sidebar, I switch it on and immediately it's switched off automatically. When I startup in Safe Mode, I can add AirDrop in the finder side bar, but AirDrop from phone to MacBook still doesn't work.

It seems like there is a problem tied to connections as I can not print to a wifi printer either, can't even add it when removed. Printer works also flawless from any other Apple Device (Phones, iPad and older Macbook).

I've also tried the SUDO command found in other topics, however without luck.

Anyone else has a similar problem (airdrop and wifi printing).

re: sudo (?)

you do not say what command you tried...sudo by itself is not a command.

Airdrop is added using the Finder>Settings>Sidebar

verify your software is up to date…

I have used the following command: sudo defaults write /Library/Preferences/com.apple.mDNSResponder.plist NoMulticastAdvertisements -bool false

this was advised in the following thread: AirDrop conitnually Failing between iPhon… - Apple Community

However, it didn't help.

How to switch on AirDrop I know; via settings, via the control center in the menu bar and via the blue tick box in the sidebar of the finder settings. However when I try to set the blue tick box in the settings of the finder sidebar, I click on it, the box turns blue and the white tick mark is there and within a second it automatically deselects.

All my software is up to date, MacBook, iPhone, older iPhone even running iOS 17, results are exactly the same. can not send to laptop, but can send from laptop to phone.

Myself and others cannot get Airdrop to stay in the Finder left column. You can force quit finder then open again and Airdrop will be there but will disappear on next boot. I sent a bug report to Apple. Aside from that my Airdrop functions OK when I send files from my iPhone to my Mac. To open Airdrop menu you can select Go from top menu.
