Accidentally expanding Notes window on Mac

Somehow when using Mac Notes app, I'm clicking on something that zooms the current note window out to cover the whole screen. This happens when clicking in or around the format button on the toolbar (Aa). It does not happen every time, only occasionally, but enough to be very annoying.

I can't figure out what I'm doing, as there would seem to be nothing in the format menu that would have this effect.

Can anyone help?

Just a guess: maybe you accidentally double-clicked in the area near that button. Double-clicking on a window title bar can, depending on your settings, either minimize the window, or zoom it.

See in System Settings->Desktop & Dock: "Double-click a window title bar to" and choose the option you prefer (perhaps "do nothing" is the most convenient since you don't want this to happen accidentally).
