Swipe down menu does not work, swipe number unlock does not work

I have an iPhone 13 Pro. Generally very happy with this device. A couple of days ago the swipe capabilities in the whole machine stopped. After toggling and unrolling and resetting it multiple times over the next few days, the swipe option came back for the keyboard when the phone is active/unlocked.

the swipe keyboard still does not work for the unlock screen— most of the time it doesn’t try to use the camera to unlock despite having the setting on to do this.

you have to manually punch in the 5 number code to get the phone to open. Swipe will not work and is not recognised.

likewise when it is in power save/sleep/standbye mode, I cannot get the swipe down menu that has shortcuts.

I have toggled and untoggled all of these buttons to death. I have deleted the keyboard and reset. turned off the phone, then toggled them on, turned it back. I have reset the phone about 45 times. It is still a problem.

any help would be appreciated. I do need that swipe down menu fairly often for the short cuts, and the manual punching of 5 numbers is hardly the worst thing that could happen, but I’d like to fix the swipe back if I can.
