My iPhone 15 Pro was updated with 18.1.1 the other day. Now my photos are a DISASTER! Navigating photos is no longer intuitive. I can’t find the photos I want, etc. Sounds like plenty of people have the same problem. What can be done?

Recents shows items in date added order. In the previous version of photos it would include everything in your library in date added order. You can effect the same sort by dragging your library down until you get the icon to sort (up and down arrows) to sort by recently added or date captured.
I agree. I use my iPhone for my job, but I'm asking them to switch to android interface. If I can't search my photos using location, my iPhone is pretty much useless. I've also had trouble emailing photos that have been shared with me via iMessage; the option to add to Photos or email to a person is no longer an option when you press on the photo or video in iMessage. Since my job is to document activities at several different locations, not being able to search my photos makes me very frustrated.
Welp I have 30k photos and I’m completely lost in this new iPhoto app. I can’t even find pics I took this morning???

Why not? The most recent photos are in your library and in recent days.
I don’t want all my photos from recents and folders all mixed together. Total mess. This week I look into reversing the update off!!
That's how photos has always worked. All of your photos are in the library.
The update cannot be reversed. Your albums remain. Recents remains. Everything is still there.
Dude - the photos 18.1.1 update screwed with photos. So many people are not happy with it. Kudos to you that you don’t have issue with it, but your comments are not helpful.
What specifically are you having an issue with in photos?
My photo albums are frozen. I can’t access most of them. The photo app freezes completely. What on earth can I do. I have twice done the force quit as advised, -to no avail.

Why mess with something that was totally fine. Come on Apple do better! Fix this and fix it now! Where did some of my pictures go and this layout is TERRIBLE!
What a mess - all the information I added to the folders has disappeared.
Now I can only search by date - sort it out - quickly!
It’s not the same. I saved a few photos I made on insta stories. Some before and afters that I edited. Now they’re not in my camera roll or recents. They’re in a recently saved folder separate.
Indeed. The search facility changed into garbage, while it used to be very functional.
Filed a complaint into the Feedback as you suggested, thanks, but I fear that also will not help, but who knows.
For now we will have to stumble on with a debilitated app.
How so? Your albums are still there. Your photos are still there. You can still search. You now have some additional categories.
