CarPlay crashing when using Siri since iOS 18.1.1

Anyone else having issues with CarPlay and Siri since updating to 18.1.1? Prior to the update never had any issues with my iPhone 15 Pro.

Now CarPlay will run successfully if operated from the screen in the car or via my phone (using maps / music / WhatsApp / messages etc) but if I make a request using Siri with Apple Intelligence my car's entertainment system now goes black before resetting itself as if there is no phone connected.

Reconnecting the phone gets things working again but Siri requests consistently cause the system to crash. Anyone else experiencing similar?

Early this month, I had my 2020 Mazda CX-5 in for servicing and the dealer updated the firmware for the infotainment system. I've had it checked and updated previously since I purchased the car, so I wasn't years out of date, but I didn't have the latest firmware available. Since that update, all crashing has stopped and CarPlay is working normally again. I'm running iOS 18.3.2.

I have iOS 18.5 and hey siri crashes my AppleCarPlay every time. Makes it kind of useless really. I have a Peugeot and a new phone cord. Makes me wonder if I need a new phone or a new car… or maybe Apple could listen to everyone and fix this?

Me too ! It’s driving me mad , I cannot send a message or make a call through Siri and CarPlay. The screen crashes and CarPlay exits

Yep! Mine has started doing this since updating last week. I cannot use siri at all as it crashes my whole infotainment unit. Found this conversation whilst trying to find a solution.

Sadly, I spoke too soon. Day 2 with 18.2.1 and the crashing has returned.

Just checked again after latest update yesterday and Siri requests are still crashing CarPlay

Rep at Apple Store recommended I erase my phone and start fresh. Anyone have success with this before I do that? Really don’t want to start over from scratch.

Still not fixed with iOS 18.3. This is ridiculous. Been going on since iOS 18 was initially released for me.

It’s not just Mazda; it’s still happening on my Vauxhall Grandland and I have reset my phone.

I have just tried deleting the CarPlay link and restarting it to see if it makes any difference. It did not. My gut instinct is that this is a memory issue with the vehicle system.

Same for me. Siri will read messages and dictate a reply for me, but still crashes if I say “hey siri”.

I’ve installed the last version of my car firmware and also i have IOS 18.3.2, but si still not working :(
