I completely agree with @neuroanatomist. I will only ever use an OEM battery as long as they are available because the quality of third party Lithium batteries is extremely poor even when purchased from a respected vendor.

Besides, the battery in that model is attached with adhesive strips. While the battery is removable, the adhesive strips tend to break very easily even when an experienced tech is performing the repair. If that happens, then it is much more difficult to remove the components. The speakers must be removed first and they are also attached using adhesive strips.

And finally, whenever you purchase replacement parts for any item, you should never have to worry if you are ordering the correct part if you are using a reputable vendor. A reputable & knowledgeable vendor should have sufficient information or instructions for identifying the correct part. Unfortunately everyone & anyone is selling everything these days regardless if they know anything about the items they are selling.

And most vendors selling Lithium batteries are not always selling the exact same "brand" battery each time you place an order. Just because the battery you ordered yesterday is amazing, does not mean the battery you order today from that same vendor will be any good at all since it could be a completely different "brand" of battery. Take it from someone who is currently replacing a large number of batteries with third party batteries from a vendor I trust.....you never know what you may receive. And I know how to properly calibrate, test & identify potentially bad batteries when I install them, but there is no way to know how they will hold up after a year or two of use. Plus many times I have to make some adjustments to the battery to make them fit properly. (Circumstances beyond my control have forced me to use third party batteries for this occasion...if I didn't know how to test & verify battery quality I would be in big trouble).

FYI, the cost of the more reputable third party batteries are at least half the cost of the official Apple repair...if you add in the cost of labor, then the Apple battery for a MBAir is actually reasonable at $160US.
