The camera control button on my iPhone 16 pro max got burning hot

The camera control button on my iPhone 16 pro max got hot after updating to iOS 18.2.1, it's so hot that it feels like it's burning when you touch it, I tried to turn off the phone and it cooled down, but as soon as I turned on the phone it got hot again. Does anyone know what this is due to and how I can solve it?

iPhone 16 Pro Max, iOS 18

I went to the Apple technical support, they try re-installing the software as the issue started after the update, however, after the re-installment the camera button kept getting burning hot, so they run a full diagnosis and found out that there was a physical problem with the button that make the temperature rise and that could be making the baterry drowning down so fast, so the technician told me that a replacement would be needed. So they are replacing the whole section where the button is, which according them includes the battery. So I’m waitting for they return the phone fixed. If you are experiencing the same issue my advice is go to the technical support and get a full diagnosis.

Finally got my iPhone sent back after weeks of twists and turns with a fix.

Here is a huge tip that works to pass the first round of Apple Support: Note the issue, get to the senior support at quick as possible and be persistent.

There were two faults in the hardware as per the letter received with the returned iPhone.

You really have to be persistent with them and request them to take a look at the device themselves. Apple Support messaging is not helpful at all!

Passed the diagnostics. Battery is healthy. I was given the option to do a battery replacement but they said it wouldn’t make a difference since it’s an underlying issue. I was told to take it further and call Apple but they’ve been giving me tasks to do with settings and all that bullcrap that I’ve already done. Avoiding a physical inspection or any sort of replacement.

I’m having the same problem and the battery drains at 20-30% an hour even when idle. I’ve done all the recommended procedures by both users and apple support.

Apple support is not great in actually supporting the customers. No great offer or solution from Apple and I’m going to have to just suck it up and deal with it.

Absolutely disappointed.
