MAIL program cannot send new emails

I am using a 2016 iMac with Ventura 13.7.2. Before I updated my software yesterday , I noticed that I could not send any new emails. It looked like it would send, connection doctor said it logged in, I heard the send sound, but nothing shows up in my sent folder. I can reply to someone for forward, I just cannot send a new one out.

My ipad and Macbook are sending email with no problems and my iMac and Macbook have the exact same network settings except my Macbook uses Sonoma 14.5.

Can anyone help me out here so that I can once again send new emails on my iMac?

Thanks, Martha

What is the setting for where sent mails get saved? Mail/Settings/Accounts select the problem account then click "Mailbox Behaviours" in the RH panel. Make sure the Sent Mailbox is "Sent"

And, the obvious daft question, are the sent mails being received by the recipients?

Also - assuming you're on IMAP do mails sent on Macbook and iPad appear in the iMac's Sent box and vice versa?

I know you say you've only got one mail account but this has symptoms of you having more than one or the default account not being the same as the one you are successfully sending from using your "reply" technique.

On your iMac...

When you create a new mail what does it say in the "From" box?

When you reply to a mail does it have the same mail address in the "From" box?

Mail/Settings/Composing/ what is "send new messages" set to.

How many accounts are there when you go to Mail/Settings/Accounts

Finally - why are you still using POP? I didn't even know there were mail services that still used it. It's about 100 years since I used POP so I can't say whether or not it might be a culprit here but if you went to IMAP your mail would synch across your devices.

I'm off to the pub now so won't be back online for a while.

I will start with the easy answer. This is a small local server that only uses POP.

I will send photos for the other questions because I could not find answers in my MAIL program to reply to. I could not find a "from" box in either my iMac or my Macbook Pro. Below is a photo of a new email. Where is the "from" supposed to be? (first photo)

In my composing settings on both computers, there is no place to send messages to. Below it is shown in the third photo. It just says to send from my email account.

I hope your weekend was a good one.

And the second photo shows the accounts.

Yes, the sent mailbox is "sent"

The new emails being sent are never received by the recipients. But if I take an old email, hit reply, then change the recipients, and send it out, it works perfectly. Or if I forward it and change the recipient or use the same recipient.

I have only one account on my MAIL program and it is a POP account.

New emails sent do not show up as sent on the Macbook or the iPad.

I sure appreciate you helping me figure this out.
