Not able to share files using AirDrop to my MacBook Air

My airdrop on my Mac is turned on but when I try sending files from my phone, the Mac doesn’t pop up but the weird thing is that I can send files from the Mac to my phone. Both my devices are updated to the latest software. I don’t know what’s wrong

Firstly, are you getting the full Airdrop display on your Mac? It would beuseful to other community responders to see what your mac is displaying when using Airdrop.

I had a MacBook Air from which I accidentally removed Airdrop from the Apps list, but was still able to transfer data or photos etc between all my devices. All that happens is that whatever you are transferring, it simply goes into Downloads , and will appear at the top of the Downloads list in Finder, and it should do this whether Airdrop is listed in your apps or not.Hope this helps.
