Gray box whilst typing in Facebook on iPhone

i solved it by updating to the latest ios updating the fb did nothing

so my analysis showed that updating the ios and possibly the fb app was the solution.

and thank you for the tip that sort comments was available.

that button is small and easy to miss.

( suggestion make that button for sorting responses a bit more visible it is so easy to miss)

anyway thank you for your response.

and to everyone else update your os and affected app and that should solve it

same thing was happening to me with the gray box in comments in Facebook.

THIS FIXED THE ISSUE:

go to the AppStore and update your Facebook app to the 503…version :)

Facebook has released some really buggy updates lately. But it's Facebook you need to contact, not Apple. Apple doesn't own Facebook, nor have any control over their app in any way.

I deleted FB and installed it again and it went away!

Cracked it (hopefully!) when it turns grey tap the camera icon ( bottom left on iPhone ) and it deletes the grey box to allow you to continue typing! 🤞🏻

WhatsApp is also a Meta app, so that would not be surprising. Contact Meta or quit using the apps, there is nothing Apple can do to update or fix another companies app. Have you seen how many updates Meta has sent out in just the last month to fix bugs? For every bug they fix, it seems that they create 2 more and instead of testing the apps themselves, you are their bug tester.

As stated by a Meta Spokesperson, it started on March 1 after a Facebook update. Are you aware that Facebook has had 11 updates over just the last month? Did you tell Facebook? Also, did you update the Facebook app, which was updates last week and many have suggested it fixed this? Whether you continue to use the Facebook app really doesn't matter to anyone but you. It's not, if you took the time read this thread (guessing you didn't since you replied to the first post) you'd know this is a Facebook/Meta issue, not an Apple or iPhone issue.

Update the Facebook App: Ensure that you have the latest version of the Facebook app installed, as updates often contain bug fixes.

Reinstall the App: Uninstalling and reinstalling the Facebook app may resolve the issue by resetting its configurations.

I noticed this the other day on all my devices. If you slide down your screen, like upper hiding your keyboard, it goes away. Sometimes it scrolls the message away, but when I go back to it and post I can do it with out the box. I’m wondering WHY the box was there to begin with. For privacy reasons? Idk it’s weird

The answer is to update all of your Meta apps. That answer has been posted by multiple people, often more than once per page.

Thanks to the person that responded with the correction for the gray box problem! I updated my Facebook, Insta, & messenger app (everything Meta). It worked!

Did you NOT see my response to you that ALL you have to do is update the Facebook app?
