Does applecare come with the purchase or do i need to purchase it by itself?

If by Apple Care you mean Apple Care+, the extended warranty and coverage for accidental damage incidents then. no, that is a separate purchase.
If you mean Warranty, then it comes with the standard one year manufacturer's warranty that covers manufacturing defects, but will not cover user caused damage.
