battery draining fast after update Sequoia 15.3.2, 15.3.1.

It does not matter how much settings I try to optimize, the battery drains always. Sleep mode is apparantly not working and looks like the system keeps running which is causing the battery drain. Is it one of the same updates apple has sent again for older models like my M1 MacBook Pro to make people upgrade their devices?

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 15.3

It is more likely that there is something installed that keeps your Mac from sleeping and thus draining the battery. I have much older Intel Macs as well as newer M3 Macs that are running Sequoia 15.3.2 and they all sleep fine.

The question is, what might be installed to cause this? Is there something installed that is constantly accessing the internet in the background? Some problem with cloud storage or anti-virus, security apps, network monitoring, VPN ... can all create these problems, as can "cleaner" tools that purport to make the Mac more efficient by removing files or folders.

You could download and run Etrecheck and post its report here, see the link above. No personal information is revealed but it might reveal something installed or configured that is creating this issue for you. Once identified, a fix can be devised.

And there is no evidence that Apple has ever done anything insidious to force people to buy newer computers!

I work in enterprise supporting a large fleet of Macs of different ages. Something changed in 15.3.1 that has not been resolved in 15.4 yet and it only seems to affect M1 Macs. If someone leaves their Mac off the charger overnight, then they will wake up with a dead battery or nearly-dead battery and lose mobility in the morning.

Been tearing my hair out researching it, but no fix as yet. Would be nice to know what changed in 15.3.1 that only seems to be affecting M1 Macs.
