Why do my AirPods work on MacBook Air but not on iPhone?

Hello, my iPhone 14 is connecting to my airpods, but when I go to play music, it outputs through my phones speakers. When I go to the control center and tap the output option on the music it shows the airpods there but when I tap the airpods to switch it they don't switch over.

I have tried resetting the airpods.

The airpods work fine on my Macbook m2 but not on my iPhone.

Edit: I have fixed the issue by updating my iPhone to the latest iOS version.
