iPhone 13 won’t let me do a software update even though I'm connected to Wi-Fi -Why??

iPhone 13 Pro Max

Recently “deleted” everything on the phone as I took it over from my hubby that got a new one. (Don’t know if that matters.)

Now it won’t let me do a software update, saying I need Wi-Fi… But I’m already connected to a stable Wi-Fi…

Then reboot your router and try it again. If that doesn't work, try updating using your computer instead of over the air.

Wish I could hook up to a computer, but that sucker gets its internet from a second iPhone - a hotspot for wifi.

(Yes, have tried rebooting the second phone. -I’m not exaggerating about being in the boonies: thereof the hotspot…)

Have also tried same with hotspot off an iPad, same thing.

Every other device is communicating back & forth, can do everything we ask, except doing the dang update…

I guess I’ll have to schedule a 3 hour one-way trip to the nearest Apple Store…Oh, well.

Thank you so very much for your suggestions!
