Sorry, but NOT possible on iPhone 6. iOS 12.5.7 is the furthest your phone is capable of running.

Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

• If you have an iPhone 5S or 6/6plus, the highest you can update to is 12.5.7

• If you have an iPhone 6S through 7, or SE 1st generation, you can update to 15.8.4

• If you have an iPhone 8 or X, you can update to 16.7.11

• If you have an iPhone SE (2nd generation or later), or XR through 16, you can update to 18.6.2

Go to Settings > General > Software Update.

If your iPhone 7 is running the latest release of iOS 15, you have updated it as far as it can go. Software Update will tell you that no updates are available because no compatible updates are.

iOS 16, 17, 18, 26, and beyond are never coming to the iPhone 7. If you need or want something newer than iOS 15, it's time to buy a new iPhone.

Then go to Settings ➜ General ➜ Software Update. The iPhone 7 Plus is compatible with iOS 15.8.4.

Which iPhone model do you have?

You need an iPhone 8 or iPhone X to update to iOS 16.

If you have a newer iPhone, it should be offered iOS 18 instead.

Again, go Settings ➜ General ➜ Software Update to update.

If it is an iPhone 6s, 6s Plus, SE (1st generation), 7, or 7 Plus, see:

If it is an iPhone 6, 6 Plus, or earlier, it cannot update to iOS 15. If it is an iPhone 8, 8 Plus, or later, it should offer you something higher than iOS 15 with which it is compatible.

As Niel already told you in your other thread, you cannot.

If you don't get the answer you want in one thread, just ask the same question in another thread and surely you'll get the answer you want, right??!!

Not updated iPhone

If Software Update is telling you that your iPhone is up to date, that means that no more updates are currently available for your iPhone.

And if it's saying that when the phone is on iOS 18.* or earlier, that means that there are no more major version updates for your iPhone. It's old enough that it has hit "the end of the line."

You may "wanna", but if you have an iPhone 6, 6 Plus, 6s, 6s Plus, SE (1st generation), 7, or 7 Plus, you cannot. Should you need or want to run apps that require iOS 16 or higher, and you have one of these phones, you will need to purchase a new phone.

The iPhone 8, 8 Plus, and X can update to the latest release of iOS 16, but not to 16.0, specifically. More recent iPhones can update to the latest release of iOS 18. Most of those that can run iOS 18 now will be able to run 26 when it comes out. For the XS, XS Max, and XR, iOS 18 is the end of the line.
