Smart zoom doesn't reverse

I like the convenience of smart zoom, but it only works in one direction--magnification. No combination of re-taps will make is shrink again. I can only change it by resetting in View or with Cmd+-.

iMac 24″, macOS 15.3

System Setting >> Mouse

Double tapping with one finger does Zoom In

Double tapping with one finger De-Zooms in

The other option to un-zoom in

Would be ⌘ Zero ( 0 )which would return the view to, Original viewing

I cannot replicate your issue. smart zoom is working as expected for me. the first thing I would try would be to Start up your Mac in safe mode. then run your Mac in safe mode for about 5 minutes. then restart the Mac normally and test. please note that I'm unsure wether smart zoom will work at all while in safe mode, but sometimes a safe boot followed by a normal boot can resolve minor issues.
