How to dispute a denied refund request effectively from Apple?

I did a free trial on a subscription that was thru April 10. I cancelled it in April 10. On April 11 63.80 was withdrawn from my acct. I requested a refund immediately due to the fact the money never should have been withdrawn. Recd msg that my refund request does not meet the requirements so it is denied. Just disputed this and it will take another 48 hours for a response. Chatted and then spoke to two very nice customer service reps that informed me there is no way to ask this to be a priority to review because they are ‘unable’ to contact the ‘department’ (persons) that review refund requests. My question is how can there be no way to internally communicate within the same company? How and why wld the company not allow customer service to send msgs to other areas of the company when there are special circumstances? I understand cs cannot promise the outcome but they can make a decision to make the request a priority if they feel the customer is correct after reviewing the account. How can a blatant error on there side be denied? If there are ‘special circumstances’ cs should be allowed to send a msg to appropriate area to request a priority review. The amt may not seem like a lot but I currently have a broken back and cannot get to the bank in time to deposit more money to cover automatic bill payments. I only keep the right amt for bills that account. I will be charged 35 a transaction if bills are withdrawn before money is refunded. Therefore, I wld consider this a ‘special circumstance’

When you signed up for the free trial, there is a message on your screen before you authorize the transaction that says to avoid charges you must cancel a day before the trial period ends. You acknowledge that you cancelled the same day the trial period ended, so that is exactly what happened. I am not sure what you are considering to be a blatant error. You can continue to use the service now until the expiration date and cancelling will prevent it from being renewed.

For any communication with Apple, you can use this link here. As for over-riding a previous decision, that is not likely to happen and the policy on that one is actually pretty clear for cancelling a free trial to avoid a subscription charge.

Nothing in the message or in this Support Article indicates to me that it is only a suggestion and to me it is absolutely clear to cancel at least 24 hours before the trial period ends to avoid the subscription. I can't comment on Apple Support telling you it is just a suggestion to avoid having to ask for a refund. That does not seem likely as an Apple Support representative cannot even guarantee you would be granted a refund. In any case, I provided the link to contact Apple directly if you want to take up that issue with them.

  • If you signed up for a free or discounted trial subscription and you don't want to renew it, cancel it at least 24 hours before the trial ends.

I wasn’t saying just my refund I was asking why there isn’t an option after customer service reviews the transactions that they are able to indicate they agree a refund is due and be allowed to explain the the customer the reason for denial. That’s all. Apologize if I sounded rude. My emotions are heightened due to having a broken back, hip and ankle and dealing with trying to be able to pay bills now and in the future.

As you can see my trial was thru April 10th. I cancelled on April 10th. I was charged on April 10th when it was still a free trial. Now I’m told after two refund requests there is nothing else I can do because they can’t override the system and ask for a third review and they are unable to find out the reason for denial. Now does this seem right to you?

I have previously cancelled free trials in the last day and I do read all info pertaining to free trials. I do know it is suggested to cancel 24 hours before but it does not indicate it is mandatory. I was charged on April 10th when the free trial was still in affect. The reason my ‘subscription’ is thru April 10,2026 now is because it became effective April 11,2025. I was charged before it was even effective. Apple support told me they suggest cancelling 24 hours before to avoid having to ask for a refund if I am charged and is not mandatory that it is cancelled 24 hours before
