How to identify and read data from an internal SSD card removed from a MacBook Pro A1398?

Hi there!

I removed an internal SSD card from an old broken Apple MacBook Pro A1398. I’m looking for an enclosure that I can insert this card into and read the data stored on it. I tried several companies inquiring of them the card type so I can purchase the correct card reader, but nobody seems to know what card this is. I have attached pictures of the front and back of this card in the hopes that you can tell me. Thank you in advance for any help you can offer.

You have some corrosion on that SSD in the bottom picture.

You will need to determine if you have a (2012, Early 2013) model or a Late-2013 to 2015 model since the SSDs between those two types are completely different. You can enter the system serial number on the check coverage page here (don't post the serial number on the since it is considered personal information):

Check Your Service and Support Coverage - Apple Support

And here are the options for the OWC Envoy Pro Enclosure for the Apple proprietary SSDs once you determine the exact model of your laptop:

Not knowing the exact Mac...

Search OWC/Macsales for an enclosure ref: https://eshop.macsales.com/

they are well ahead of the curve all things Mac, with excellent customer service if in doubt.

see if this is it:
