Sequoia 16.4 keeps logging me out after Screen Saver

This problem has been raised before and there are supposedly two ways of correcting it: (i) under Privacy and Security/Advanced and change the "Log out after" setting; (ii) opening the Lock Screen preferences and changing the setting for "Require password after screen saver begins or display is turned off."

The first pathway does nothing and unfortunately the options for the latter are locked (greyed out) and stuck on "immediately," which appears to have been set by the latest Sequoia version. Is there a third way to sort this out or should I revert to an earlier version of Sequoia and hope that at some stage the developers stop imposing arbitrary controls on how I use my Mac.

Never mind, found the solution, it's in this discussion: option greyed out for stopping automatic password requirement after sleep mode. Why the option for changing this setting should be dependent on setting for iPhone mirroring is a mystery to me.

It is good you seem to have found the solution

Change iPhone Mirroring settings

Open the iPhone Mirroring app on your Mac, then choose iPhone Mirroring > Settings from the menu bar at the top of your screen. Choose from these options:

  • Ask every time: iPhone Mirroring always asks you to authenticate before mirroring. Authenticate using your Mac login password, using Touch ID on your Mac, or using your Apple Watch
  • Automatically authenticate: After entering your Mac login password to select this setting, you are no longer asked to authenticate before mirroring. While this setting is selected, the “Require password after screen saver begins or display is turned off” setting in Lock Screen settings remains set to Immediately.
  • Revoke Access to [name of your iPhone]: Reset the iPhone Mirroring setup for this iPhone and remove “Allow notifications from iPhone” from Notifications settings on your Mac. To mirror your iPhone and receive its notifications again, set up iPhone mirroring. " End Quote
