I'd like to remove a text conversation from my message window, but I'd like to save the entire conversation as a text file. How can I do that? Not obvious how to "select all" and copy.

Thank you. That worked, but it takes an incredibly long time to complete. For ~80 pages of texts, comprising ~40MB, you get several minutes of spinning beach balls during which time Messages reports as "not responding". Weird.
Since I've never done it I can't say if that's normal or not. Perhaps someone knows.
How do I save and delete a message conversation on iMac?
