How can I fix yellow/green screen issue on iPhone 13 Pro Max?
Purchased and collected an iPhone 13 Pro Max and on the 26th of September 2021. However few days (less than a week) after warranty ended, on the 30th Sept 2022, screen flickered and later turned yellow/green. We scheduled and went to Apple Genius Bar for a repair. I do not really remember what exactly happened but iirc the phone was taken by their team for a check and when we came back on 1st Nov 2022, all we were told by the technician was they do not have a definite answer as to why it happened. During that time we really thought it was 100% our fault and we somehow broke the screen so we accepted the payment of $489 to get the display replaced as we still needed the device and the repair is definitely cheaper than getting a brand new iphone. Until just yesterday, 24th April 2025, the same issue happened again so I went online to check and found these forums with thousand of people facing the same issue with many getting free repair/replacement so I contacted Apple support and scheduled another repair at the same store today, 25th April 2025 and got it replaced within an hour. This time round the repair was on Apple as they said it was a “manufacturing defect” so we were wondering why were we asked to pay for it during the first repair in 2022. I contacted Apple support in hope for a reimbursement or something and they scheduled a call for me with the senior’s team and all they said was that this screen issue was caused by iOS17 and above which was only released during Sept 2023 and its official that only devices facing the issue after Sept 2023 are covered by Apple even without warranty. I saw a thread posted on June 2022 where people faced the same issue on a brand new iphone 13 pro max running on iOS15.5 but they were still covered under the 1 year warranty which already tells me that this is a known issue even before the iOS17 release/update. So I am just wondering if anyone else faced the same issue before Sept 2023/release of iOS17 and if you managed to get a repair covered by Apple even after the device’s warranty has ended? We did not question much until the second occurance of the issue and after what they told me because based on my understanding, they are basically telling me that the defected LCD will only fail when the device iOS is above 17 and since my device first broke down before iOS17 was released I have to bear the cost of the repair which seems weird as they basically admitted to having a defected LCD and neglected the possibility of the defected LCD failing with lower iOS. Even if you did not face the issue, it would be really nice to hear your thoughts on this, thanks alot for your time.
