Unable to locate my lost iPhone using Find My

I lost my phone yesterday (it may have been stolen, I'm not sure) and I am trying to put it in lost mode to keep my information safe. However, my phone is not showing up in the device list on find my. I know that it won't necessarily show a location, but all of my other devices--including old phones which have been powered off for years--show up in the device list. My phone was definitely connected to find my, as I used the app before losing the phone. I haven't been able to find anything helpful about this online. Anyone know a solution?

The only way a phone which was signed into Find My, which disappears from your list of devices would be if the person who came in possession of the phone, knew your passcode, Apple Account and Password and they have now removed the phone from your account and that would let them set it up for their own use.

Since Apple can't help you (they never get involved in lost or stolen devices), contact your carrier and ask them to Blacklist the phone so it can't be set up on any other network.
