How do I fix email sending issues on MacBook Air after macOS 15.4.1 update

After upgrading from 15.4 to 15.4.1 on MacBook Air two email problems have developed. First after hitting send, email could not be sent unless ALL spell check items were either accepted or ignored. It is no longer possible to X out of Spellcheck and have an email send. Second, I found that certain emails would not send at all. Spellcheck did not engage after hitting the send arrow. Instead that would just gray out and the email would sit there, inert.

Hey @all -- quick workaround for this that is infinitely less annoying and let's you KEEP the spell checker on:

Just go into the message after closing the spell check window, and just hit the spacebar, or other keystrokes a few times and it will automatically just send the message!

Weird, but this has been like this for years -- often to my annoyance when I would try to edit a message mid-spell-check, and it would just send after a few keystrokes.

Now that we have this bug, it's actually quite a useful workaround -- but yes, ultimately, apple needs to fix the greyed out "send" icon so we can send whenever we want -- whether before, during or after a spell check, or if we suspend it altogether.

This is an irritating bug. Many of my emails included quoted text in other languages, which spellcheck can't recognise. Before the update, I could just close the spell check box when I had checked the new message. Now it won't let me send the message until I have checked every.single.word.

Switching off spellcheck is the way to go, but I found the 'check on send' feature really useful as a way to pause and check an email before sending it.

Hopefully Apple will correct this bug at the next update.

I just discovered this problem this morning after updating a few days ago. (Guess I don't use my email too much.)

Bobs7623, your advice was right on. Should've checked earlier; wasted about 3 hours fumbling around on this. When I discovered my phone didn't have the problem, I figured it must be a bug in the last update. Thanks for identifying it.
