I'm not that familiar with Total Drive, but it seems completely distinct and different from iCloud Drive.

Total Drive is, at heart, a backup storage solution. You designate content on your device(s) to get backed up, and Total Drive backs them up. End of story. As a separate service, it does not appear to affect your iCloud Storage in any way.

It also costs $99/year, or $11.99 a month, so I'm not sure where the $1.99 price tag you're referring to comes from - that's an optional charge to add more capacity to your iCloud Storage plan from Apple.

iCloud Storage can also act as a backup repository, and synch across devices. The main advantage of iCloud Storage is its integration into the OS for things like application/data offload (so the OS automatically offloads idle or little-used applications and data (photos, music, documents, etc) and seamlessly download them any time you try to open them (compared to manually having to download the content that you want).

Either way, both Total Drive and iCloud Storage offer certain advantages. It's up to you to determine which one (if any) offers you the most value.

I was told $1.99 payment to get more storage space in the cloud.

Afterwards, it did not sound right to me. So I called the company & told them to cancel this policy & refund my money. The person said “Sure no problem. Ok it's canceled .

I went to my account the next day - sure enough they charged me $1.99 PLUS $3.99!!!!!

Screw this!! THIS IS A SCAM!!!!!!!

I called my bank & put in a claim.

I told my bank this was a SCAM. I TOLD THEM TO REFUND MY MONEY &

BAN THIS COMPANY FROM EVER BILLING ME AGAIN. SO THIS COMPANY IS ON MY BANNED LIST- IT WONT GET MY MONEY.

IF THIS HAPPENED TO YOU- CALL YOUR BANK & HAVE THIS COMPANY BANNED FROM YOUR ACCOUNT.

They are getting better and better at that! They send out millions of those, and for most people, many of whom may not use Apple at all, it makes no sense and they ignore it. But they count on there being a few for which it comes at just a time when it sort of makes sense. And out of millions sent out, which costs nearly nothing, even a small percentage of prefect timing can net them lots of money. It's easy to get caught in something like that! We all have to be really vigilant!

I received a similar message and thought I was buying a Black Friday special for icloud storage. Before I knew it I was receiving a receipt for an annual subsciption to Total Drive. I have been trying to cancel it ever since. every time I get to the link to cancel it takes me back to the log in page (even though I am logged in) and that's where I stay. No help from their tech support

I felt mislead into believing that totaldrive .com is part of or affiliated with Apple.

after I clicked the offer, I got a feeling that it may not be legit. So, I made attempts to find out how to click cancel on the same day but not able to find a way to do so.

then I kept trying to send an email to cancel it but, TotalDrive.com seemed tricky and would not give me a simple way to send email to them. So, just had to cancel my credit card. And informed the issuing bank to issue me a new card. Totaldrive, com is only suitable for customer who may posses Einstein’s IQ to know how to contact them with an email ???

I have them continuously trying to take money I even replaced my bank card because I didn’t know what it was and my bank alerted me and turned the payment down I’m going to a attorney I never gave them permission to take my money!

You can certainly go to an attorney, but you can also dispute the charge with your bank where it won't cost you any attorney fees. Simply getting a new card number does not work for a subscription charge because your PNO (Mastercard, VISA, etc) uses an Automatic Billing Updater to transfer any subscriptions to a new card number. You need to officially designate those charges as being fraudulent with your bank before the PNO will remove the subscription.
