Pages Version 13 - Templates Grayed Out.

Hello,

A few years ago I created templates in Pages version 13. I would like to edit one of the templates that I created. However, the online instructions are likely for a later version of Pages (that I don't have) and therefore are incorrect for Pages 13.

In the link below the instructions are not valid for Pages 13

Create and use page templates in Pages on Mac - Apple Support

However, I was able to find "Edit Page Templates" in Pages version 13 here:

View >> Edit Page Templates

Unfortunately, the option to Edit Page Templates is grayed out and thus I'm still unable to edit the template I created years ago.

So...... How is it possible to edit a template in Pages 13 that I created a few years ago? How is this accomplished? Are there instructions for the version of Pages that I have?

Thanks for your help!

There is no editing existing templates regardless of the Pages version — be they application supplied templates, or your previous template creations. You create a new document using the template that you wish to modify. Make your changes in that document, and then you save it as a newly named template.

If the changes in the first paragraph supercede the reason to keep the original template, then you can open the Template Chooser, locate the original user created template, and by right-clicking on it, remove it. Always a good idea to have a Time Machine backup in that case.
