Is numbers any more stable and less buggy in Sequoia or do I really need to go to Excell or the like.?
In Monterey version 13.1, it loses formatting. Forgets simple math formulas.

Most "buggy" complaints I see involve running an old version of Numbers on an old version of macOS.
If your hardware can support it, then upgrade to the latest macOS and run the latest Numbers.
For me Numbers has been rock solid, a less clunky experience than LibreOffice.
Excel also is a good citizen on the Mac.
Both Numbers and Excel run smoothly on mobile should you ever need that.

So far LIbra is holding its own and had no trouble importing from Numbers including formulas.
Never had trouble with Excel, but I found there was more mousing with formula building.
Try the free LibreOffice.
vary on every version of Numbers since Mavs. I've seen libra mentioned many times as the better beast for mid-level spreads.
I spent more time mousing with Excel than I did with Numbers or Libra, at least from my point of view and purposes. I'm not doing any Pythagoras or Fibonacci calculations.
It is the same as it has always been.
I've never seen it lose formatting or forget formulas. I attribute that to some kind of corruption in the particular document. It was probably caused by Numbers but is one of those ultra-rare problems no one can ever replicate or track down to fix.

It seems you have shifted from wanting something more "stable and less buggy" to comments about "mousing."
Numbers running on a properly maintained and updated system is rock solid in my experience.
So is Excel.

been toying with it for the last hour. So far ....
I use Numbers quite a bit. Never found it as buggy as Excel. I can't think of any time it ever crashed.
Perhaps there is something else at play.
Is macOS Sequoia more stable for Numbers than Excel?
