Scissors Tool issue (not cutting on Bar)

Greetings everyone! In my new batch of projects I can't cut simple audio at Bar - even though my 'snap to grid' and track' settings should make me do so.

In my other projects, it's really simple to cut on the Bar - to do a clean, simple cut.

Now the cut extend past the Bar at different length, creating an 'underlayer' of sound (paler shade).

It's *really* annoying and I have no idea how it got there.

I cut the Audio Trail in the settings/general/edit

I wonder if it's related to Sample rate? (our new recordings used a new instrument that needed the 48 khz Sample rate). Again, I have no idea if it's related.

The trick I found is to do an 'Export Audio' of the original audio file - then it works.

Thank you in advance for your feedbacks!

Several Logic Pro users have reported that the Scissors Tool misbehaves when working with audio files that originated from a different sample rate, even after conversion to match the project settings. A few things to try.

  • Export the audio file from Logic as a new file at the project’s sample rate, then re-import it. This seems to reset the internal timing grid.
  • Bounce in place or use “Convert to New Audio File” to force Logic to re-render the waveform.
  • Check Snap settings in both the Tracks Area and Audio Editor—they can differ and cause confusion.
  • Avoid dragging in files directly from Finder if they’re mismatched in sample rate. Use Logic’s import dialog to ensure proper conversion.

Another point.

If you’re working with exotic instruments or third-party sample libraries recorded at odd rates (like 96kHz or 32kHz), always convert them externally first using a tool like RX Audio Editor or Audacity, then bring them into Logic.

Thank you everyone! It seems after all that it was all about Sample Rate.

When using a track as an Audio File whose source has a different Sample Rate, it seems it's creating an issue with the Scissors Tool - even after the conversion.

I'm just happy this 'bug' has an explanation - it's when we don't know what's happening that it gets maddening.

Have a great day everyone!

Thank you for your reply. Yes they are!

I would think this is a bug, as in my dozens of other projects I never had that.

Like mentioned, exporting the audio track as another... audio track seems to work. I then delete the buggy track and drag in the newly-exported audio track and it works.

All I could think of is this is maybe related to a changed sample rate (I had to convert the project to a new sample rate thanks to one new Czech instrument in my setup).
