UI freeze and all shortcuts disabled when rapidly/repeatedly switching between “Show Tool Menu” and tool shortcuts

In Logic Pro, rapidly alternating or repeatedly pressing the shortcuts for "Show Tool Menu" and individual tools such as Pointer, Pencil, and Scissors causes the entire application to freeze. When this happens, the UI and all other shortcuts become completely unresponsive, and pressing Esc or Return does not restore functionality — the only way to return to normal operation is to restart Logic Pro. This issue occurs regardless of which keys are assigned to these functions, suggesting it is not related to a specific key mapping but rather a bug in focus or event handling. How can Logic be improved so that rapidly switching or repeatedly pressing tool shortcuts and the tool menu does not cause the UI and shortcuts to freeze?

Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling Logic Pro? You might want to update to the latest version as well. Be sure to back up appropriately.

Back up the Logic Pro app

Create a new folder in the Applications folder. Name the folder with the name and version of the application (for example, "Logic Pro 11.1.2"). To check the version of Logic Pro you have, open the application and choose About Logic Pro from the Logic Pro menu.
Select the Logic Pro application in the Applications folder. Choose File > Compress "Logic Pro." It will take a few minutes to compress.
Move the resulting "Logic Pro.zip" file into the folder you created in step 1.
If you need to save space on your startup disk, move the folder containing the ZIP file to an external storage device, then delete the folder in your Applications folder.
