Pages app keeps freezing and closing when using 'proofread' feature on iPad Pro

Whenever I try to use the “proofread” feature on my document, the app freezes and then closes itself.

I have an M4 iPad Pro with iPadOS v18.6.1 and Pages v14.4. I have an open Pages document, where I have selected the first paragraph and then tapped on that selection. This opens a Writing Tools panel, upon which you can select Proofread. Mine works just fine using U.S. English as the writing language.


Apple Intelligence is enabled and activated for Pages. You will need an M1 or later of these devices:

  • iPad Pro
  • iPad Air
  • iPad Mini A17 Pro


The selected language for Apple Intelligence usage in Pages must be the same as that used for Siri.


Supported languages include English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese (Brazil), Spanish, Japanese, Korean, and Chinese (Simplified). More languages are coming over the course of the year, including Vietnamese. Some features may not be available in all regions or languages.
