Folder closes when I open a document on MacBook Air macOS Sequoia 15.6.1

When I open a folder and click on a document, the folder closes again and goes back on the desktop. This is frustrating when wanting to have more documents in order to compare them. Mac is up to date Sequoia 15.6.1. How can I resolve this? Thank you

This is not normal - unless, perhaps, you are using Stage Manager... something that I have no use for at all.

Try turning Stage Manager off - in System Settings->Dock & Desktop:

Does that help?

Command-Shift-3 takes a shot of the whole screen, and Command-Shift-4 of the region you select (click and drag a rectangle). By default, the screenshots are saved to your Desktop, but you can choose a different location: press Command-Shift-5, click Options, and select the desired location.

It is common to have "Show Floating Thumbnail" activated (in the same Options menu), and to click that thumbnail to make quick edits. When you click Done, the file is automatically saved to the specified location.

What happened when you tried to save?
