How can I restore messages from a corrupted backup on my mac

I backed up my daughters iphone 12 pro onto my macbook pro before I did a factory reset to try to fix the issue it was having (couldn't swipe up and some apps were going crazy - yup, that's the technical verbiage). Unfortunately, I keep getting a backup is corrupted error message. I called Apple and there is anything they can do to fix it. My daughter really wants her messages restored. Is there anyway to just do that? Thanks!!
