Inconsistent VoiceOver voice selection in Pages on Mac

All I get is Siri or Alex - whatever. Quit - ReOpen Pages, restart computer; doesn't fix this problem. HELP!!!!

Original Title: Why won't VoiceOver voice that I select in Settings shows & be the voice that speaks in Pages?!
