Keep Safari favorites in side bar showing in Tahoe

I noticed with Safari 26 in Tahoe that the favorite bookmarks bar will not remain showing in the side bar after closing Safari. When opening Safari again the favorite bookmarks collapse and then need to once again open. Is there any setting to avoid this issue? I also notice this with Sequoia 15.7.

I get the sneaking suspicion that Apple wants us to move to tabs instead of using our Favorites. That is so irritating. My workflow slows down considerably if I can't launch Safari and have Favorites open in the side bar. They tried this once before and then restored that ability. I guess they just don't pay attention to what customers want.

Same issue here. I really don't want to change my workflow. The Favorites should open when Safari is opened, and not force you to open them. I closed Safari with them open, they should open with when Safari is opened. Sometimes, Apple thinks they know what you want, more than you do. But that's the normal mentality for people who don't think freely and Apple has known this for a long time. They are one reason why Apple so successful.
