How do i put the app window back the way it was

I have anomic aphasia, so this new window with a search bar does not work for me. I heavily depended on folders with huge icons so I could visually see what I needed. Everything was muscle memory, all apps had specific folders and I just knew where things were. Now there's this squished up 6 inch by 5 inch box in the middle of my 32 inch wide screen monitor where I spend several minutes trying to visually find what I need. There doesn't even seem to be a way to drag the box out and make it larger.

How can I put the app window back the way it was so I can visually find things like before?
