Screen issues on iPhone 13 Pro Max after iOS 26 update

Before updating to iOS 26 on my iPhone 13 Pro Max, I'm concerned about potential screen problems. The previous update caused my screen to turn white unexpectedly, and I want to avoid a repeat.

Has anyone else experienced screen issues (white screen, flickering, etc.) after installing iOS 26 on the iPhone 13 Pro Max?

Any advice or feedback would be appreciated before I proceed with the update.

Yeah man, I’ve had iPhones since the 3G, and I’ve gotta say that this update has put me off ever going forward with a new version right away. This has not exactly bricked my phone, but iOS 26 has definitely ruined it to the point of making it unusable. My cameras no longer work, my frame rate has dropped to about 10fps, and apps are constantly crashing - ones like “messages” and “settings”. This is absolutely the worst update they’ve had; not to mention my Apple TV and iPad are also now bugging out. On my phone, it now says that I don’t have Apple genuine parts installed, even though my phone has never been repaired and worked absolutely fine in iOS 18. I’m not the only person reporting errors with this update, and even after waiting for the 26.1 update my issues not only persist, but are noticeably worse. On the phone with Apple support and after escalation they let me know that it’s a problem they’re aware of with my model - 13 Pro Max - and that there’s nothing they can do but wait for another software update. So, now, I get to upgrade to a 17 Pro Max and hope for the best.

This update has caused allot of confusion and has a steep adjustment for many users.

As with every update. Nobody likes changes, which is seen on every major release. If there were no changes, then there would be complaints that Apple is stagnant and not innovating. After the users get used to the changes, then it is the best thing ever until the next update comes along. Happens every year.

Hi Mac Jim ID,

Thanks for your feedback! I totally understand the cycle of reactions to updates. However, my concern is more about potential screen issues, specifically the white screen and flickering problems I experienced with the previous update.

Has anyone who updated to iOS 26 on the iPhone 13 Pro Max experienced similar screen issues (white screen, flickering, etc.)? I’m wondering if these problems have been addressed or if they’re still occurring. Any insights on that would be really helpful before I decide to update.

Thanks again!

Hi SravanKrA,

Thanks for your response! I appreciate the advice.

To clarify, my device is not jailbroken, and I have never installed any unauthorized software or apps. However, after the previous iOS update, I encountered a white screen issue, which required a paid repair. This is why I’m being cautious about updating to iOS 26, as I don’t want to face the same problem again.

I completely agree that iOS updates generally improve security and user experience. I’ve always kept my device updated, but I wanted to reach out to see if anyone else had similar screen issues with iOS 26 specifically, given my past experience.

Would you still recommend going ahead with the update? I just want to make sure it’s safe to update without facing potential screen problems again.

Thanks again for your input!

My phone heats up now and uses too much battery since update 26 wont install 26.1!

That is your choice. Note that any bug fixes including improvement in your battery usage will only come from an update, so you may never have a solution.

With iOS 26.1 currently in beta, we cannot comment in any battery related improvements included in that release as it is a violation of the terms of use for being a beta tester. There may even be a 26.0.2 update before 26.1 is released, but that would be speculation and not allowed on this Support Site.
