is there anyway to switch to the previous launchpad?

Replacing launchpad with spotlight is one of the dumbest things I have ever seen apple do. You can't group things into folders so you have to scroll screen after screen of things you never use to find an app whose name you can't remember.

You can still make your own folders for apps (I recommend using aliases, though) with all the subfolders you want. Then, you can put that folder in the dock fore easy access.
