How do I disable bookmark previews in the sidebar in Safari for MacOS?

After the last MacOS Sequoia update (15.6.1 -> 15.7) Safari was upgraded to 26.0 and I now how have a short preview for each site for each bookmark in the sidebar. This makes bookmarks in the sidebar borderline unusable as I have a LOT of bookmarks and scrolling them / picking a specific one out of the list is much more difficult now and loading the previews does horrible, horrible things to performance.

How can I switch this off and just go back to one-line bookmarks in the sidebar? This "upgrade" is making Safari borderline unusable for me.

To get the "old" view back of your bookmarks click on the three dots and check "Compact and uncheck "Show Folders on Top".

However, unfortunately, when saving new bookmarks a category "Recently Saved" with big a** icons appears above the bookmarks which in no way can be hidden (not yet anyway).

Let's pray that Apple fix this in macOS 26.0.1

Safari 26.0.1 with MacOS Sequoia 15.7.1 definitely does not have 3 dots and nowhere in view/settings I can find to change this behaviour. New bookmarks are also dropped on top of previous bookmarks and nowhere to change that behaviour either. Safari now unusable for me as I can't find anything through all this mess. And can't get the old version back as it does not appear on Time Machine before the update date.

I just installed the MacOS Sequoia 15.7.1 update and, yeah, there's no three dots in Safari, so there doesn't seem to be any way to disable the Favorites previews. With 250+ bookmarks -- all named to be descriptive -- seeing only 8 favorites rather than 20-25 at a time makes Safari incredibly difficult to use.

It sounds like MacOS Tahoe adds the option to compact things (hide the previews), but until my employer confirms that all of the corporate apps I use are compatible with Tahoe, I'm stuck with a really annoying Safari.

**SIGH**

Sorry, that's only for Tahoe. 15.7 with Safari 26 doesn't have them and you cannot modify sidebar layout unfortunately. I went back from macOS Tahoe (They'd better named it iOS Tahoe) to Sequoia yesterday because the extreme buggyness and iOS interface drove me nuts. Please wait to upgrade until 26.3 I guess or better skip all together and see what Cupertino brings for macOS 27.
