I ran across my iPod touch after, I have no idea how many years. I tried to log in with my current password but it’s not letting me in the message I get is “Incorrect password. Can someone PLEASE give me some suggestions. Thank you in advance.

You may have used a different password or even account in the past. If it cannot connect to the Internet then it has no way of knowing if you use a different password now.
Also note that there is a world of difference between a password and a passcode. As far as I know, what you need is a passcode, not a password. If you do not have it, you will need to reset the device. So let's first establish which it is that you need.
