There appears to be no way to remove these Recently Saved bookmarks from the Safari sidebar in the latest MacOS Tahoe. Worse still, the preview bookmarks appear as large image icons (see attached image), which are also impossible to remove. Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated.

I figured it out. The "Recently Saved" section lists sites in your "Reading List". Go to View -> Show Reading List Sidebar. There you can delete items. When all have been deleted, the Recently Saved section is gone.
I didn't even know I had added items to a reading list. But, they're gone now and I'm happier.
Well, I’ve had it… its still in all the erm, whats another word for ea*ly r*le*se versions, can’t use the B word or my posts get removed, soooo …. I’ve taken steps and started using duck duck go… If I like it, then it may not matter if they fix safari, I won’t come back. Occasionaly maybe you need to step outside the apple eco system. Added bonus I , I wanted to stop using google as well, so just trying it on one of my macs to start.
Yes, my friend IdrisSeabright, many many many times. Called Apple support, they said an update coming soon, two updates later NO dice. I love Apple. Had been using Apple for long time. Bottom line is no one Apple reads these posts, I gather. That's the it goes.........

No, Apple doesn't read the posts here. That's what the feedback page is for. If you haven't used it, you should.
Not a good solution since I still want to keep my Reading List.
I just don't want to see the huge, ugly thumbnails up there. "Recently Saved", why on earth would I want to keep looking at something I recently saved? I just saved it to NOT have to look at it.
Apple is losing it, forcing design bloat and senselessness on its users.
Tahoe sure is a fine mess.
The strange thing about these large 'recently saved' bookmarks is that if you have your bookmarks sidebar set to a reasonable width to view your bookmarks list then there is only room on the top row for one and a half large icons across. So if you really do want to view any more and you click on the 'Recently Saved' arrow then you are given a vertical list in compact form anyway! So what is the point of them?

Same here. Also, the bookmarks are not recent -- some I haven't been to for years -- and more newly created bookmarks are not in this unwanted list.
That does not work for the new "Recently Saved" items that appeared in macOS Tahoe. CTRL-click does nothing on those icons.
Of course, that's how one deletes bookmarks from the normal listings.
Thank you sxbsxb - it worked! You are you are brilliant. I hope Apple makes this simpler to do. Because it is not intuitive to link the Reading list to Recently Saved bookmarks.
yes but then you have lost all the links for future access. Not a real fix.
@tbirdvet thank you I have provided feedback to either get rid of it or have the option to remove. Sceptical whether they actually read the feedback or not but we'll see.

Same here, Ugly large squires on the top. Hope there will be a fix for this?
