Only one pod works with hearing aid feature
I put in one and it works. When I put the 2nd one in it almost shuts off and I can't hear anything.

As a check against gross errors in procedure, I suggest you run the setup again and compare the results.
If still the same result, you should make an Appointment at an Apple-owned store for a service visit.
